I don’t have built-in Bluetooth in my car so when I use my iPhone while driving I either connect to a Jabra hands-free device or I connect to my car stereo using a headset jack and the aux setting.  Whatever allows you to hear your phone while driving works.

Using your Mobile Home device is simple.

Once you pair it as a Bluetooth device, you just push the big round home button and it gives you the familiar double chime that indicates Siri is listening.  State what you want and hopefully Siri will deliver.

Although the device is simple to use, you are stuck with all the limitations of Siri, however, so if Siri doesn’t understand you, well, this won’t help.  If you ask a question that requires Siri to use Wolfram Alpha or look it up on the web then you’re out of luck too because she doesn’t read those answers out loud.

Here’s what my sun visor looks like with the Jabra (on the left) and the Mobile Home (on the right):

In my experience, about half the time Siri doesn’t have a clue what I want.

Once when I pressed the Mobile Home button and asked Siri to read an incoming text, she asked me what kind of Reminder I wanted to make.  Another time she read my text but because I had the air conditioner on and the radio down low, I couldn’t understand a word she said.

But, hey, the Mobile Home did what it was supposed to do. Those problems were on my end. Personally I don’t think doing more while driving is safe but if you want to send texts, set appointments, make a reminder, check sports scores, or whatever, this will work fine. It does what it’s advertised to do.

Now if only Siri could figure ME out!

Mobile Home, from Beanco Tech. $59 street price at Amazon.com.
